Born in Gera as the daughter of a photographer

Studies photography at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig (Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig)

Move to Berlin and beginning of work as a camerawoman for GDR TV, in the “Dramatic Art” division. Also joins the group “action fotografie”. Attempts to get around propagandistic images as well as censorship and show real life. After three exhibitions, the group splits up in 1958, due to the attrition tactics of cultural politics.

Awarded the Hannah Höch Prize, the most important distinction for Berlin art
